Publication of “Live Free or Undead” is scheduled for October 2010. Submission details are available upon request. Future editions of New Hampshire Pulp Fiction will draw upon the genres of “mystery,” “science fiction,” “historical romance,” and “adventure.” Editor Rick Broussard can be reached at nhpulpfiction@gmail.com.
Hello,
Is the “Undead” anthology still open for submissions? If so, when is the deadline and what other submission details do I need in order to participate?
Thank you for your time and any information you can forward.
Peggy McFarland
Peggy, If you poke around this site you’ll find answers to your questions, but I’m happy to respond to any of them directly. Drop me a line at nhpulpfiction@gmail.com and I can be as detailed as you like. Submissions will be accepted at least until March 31. I probably will keep “accepting” them until I’ve made my selections, which may not be until the end of April, but best to get stories to me this month, to be safe. You can e-mail them to that same address.
Can you please let me know what the requirements are for submission.
Thank you,
Linda Gavin
Linda, no fancy requirements. Just send me a good solid text file and try to keep the word length in check and the subject matter related to horror set in New Hampshire. E-mail your manuscript to me at nhpulpfiction@gmail.com
Greetings, Rick!
I read about “Live Free or Undead” in the Concord Monitor about a month back, and I wrote a short story that I was hoping to submit. I don’t recall the Monitor ever going into detail on the best method to send the story manuscript to you however, so I just put it through (snail)mail. It only occurred to me just ten minutes ago to attempt looking up “Live Free or Undead,” and it was then that I stumbled across this site.
Straight to the point, should I e-mail you the manuscript now that I know you also have an e-mail, or should I stick with just letting the manuscript that I’ve already sent get to you instead?
I sincearly hope this finds you well, and cheers!
Avid Writer,
Meghan
Meghan,
The deadline isn’t that deadly. I’ll read manuscripts that arrive a little late without any prejudice.

Hi Rick,
I know everyone’s thinking Zombies today, but I’m interested in submitting for the romance anthology. Any idea when the submission deadline for that would be? And besides the 8,000 word limit are there any other format requirements? Also, how historical are we talking here?Could a story be set in the later half of the 20th century?
I look forward to your response and thanks for creating such a fun format for NH writers!
-CJ
Feel free to submit a story for the romance anthology, though it may be more than a year before that one starts up in earnest. I’ve got no strict formatting requirements and “historical,” I suppose, is in the eye of the beholder. As long as it evokes a real sense of time along with the sense of NH place, I suppose it could be set in the 1980s.
Hi Rick,
I think this is SO COOL. Looking forward to reading LIVE FREE OR UNDEAD and its upcoming brethren. Thanks for making this happen!
Adi
(who isn’t a short story writer, but who is happy others are)
Hi Rick,
When I raed about your projected publication, ‘Live
Free or Undead’ I thought it was a great idea. I forwarded my manuscript,”Goodbye Sweet love” I believe on March 24, 2010 to beat the stated dead line and mailed a typed copy to the Manchester, NH address as given in the Publication Specs.
I have never heard a word to this date as to acceptance, publication date or if other genre are in the works as I would enjoy submitting again.
Thank you and best of luck with the publication.
Al Lorenzo
When and where can we purchase you book?
Lillian – You should be able the buy the book in just about any bookshop in the state by Oct. 15. Or you can order it from http://www.nhbooksellers.com. – Rick
when will your website be complete with stories that were not chosen in the contest but, will be on the web.
Sheila, I’m working on this over the coming weekend, but I have to admit, it’s a bit more of a project than I’d first envisioned. Bear with me.
Just wondering what’s up with the mystery anthology, which is much more up my alley than the horror was. Is there a call for submissions for that yet? Where can we find guidelines? Thanks for any info you can pass along.
